5000 young voices will shape the future

A new survey seeking the views of 5000 children and young people aged 8 to 26 years has been launched by Vibrant Communities.

Working in partnership with the Children and Young People’s Cabinet, the survey www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/5000voices has been developed to ensure that the views and opinions of children and young people are captured. The team also created a video that explains why the survey is so important.

Councillor Elena Whitham, Spokesperson for Housing and Communities said: “It is essential that we work with young people to ensure that their voices are heard. Our children and young people are our future and their views that will be gathered from the survey will help to shape future provision, improve opportunities for children and young people and inform change more widely across the Council.”

Depute Provost Claire Leitch, Children’s Champion added: “I really enjoy working with the young people who represent the youth voice at the Children and Young People’s Cabinet. They are eloquent, informed and passionate about improving the lives of East Ayrshire’s children and young people. Please support them by filling out the survey, you may even win a £50 voucher.”

The survey will take about ten minutes to complete and covers key topics including volunteering opportunities, celebrating young people, embedding the youth voice and improving the health and wellbeing of young people.
