A713 Ayr to Dalmellington road resurfacing works
The Ayrshire Roads Alliance, as part of its extensive programme to improve the condition of the road network, will be carrying out essential road resurfacing works on three sections of the A713 Ayr to Dalmellington Road.
To carry out these works safely and efficiently, and to protect the roads operatives and the travelling public, it will be necessary to close two of these sections and introduce additional traffic management measures.
The proposed restrictions, timescales and affected areas are:
Section one - A713 Polnessan – weekend road closures only
This section will be closed on Saturday 10 August, Sunday 11 August, Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 August 2019 from 07:00 until 18:00. The road will open from approximately 12:00 until 13:00 each day to allow motorists to travel through the site.
Section two - A713 Patna to Waterside – evening road closures only
From Monday 12 August until Wednesday 21 August, this section will be closed each night from 19:00 until 06:00 each morning. This section will be open on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 August.
Sections one and two will have signed diversion routes in place during the road closures. The diversion will be via A713 to B742 Coylton, A70 through Coalhall, to A76 Dettingen Roundabout, Cumnock to New Cumnock, B741 to Dalmellington, Broomknowe, Gateside Road, before re-joining the A713 and vice versa.
Motorists travelling south on the A713 to the Steam Train events at the Scottish Industrial Railway Centre, Waterside on Sunday 11 August and Sunday 18 August will use this diversion route to access the Centre.
Section three – A713 Carsphairn Road, Dalmellington – road will remain open under convoy
Work is scheduled to start on this section on Monday 19 August and run until Friday 30 August.
For the duration of the works, no waiting restrictions will be in place on the A713 on Bellsbank Road and Carsphairn Road. A banned right turn will also be in place to prevent vehicles turning right from Merrick Drive, Bellsbank to Carsphairn Road.
It is anticipated that the resurfacing work will be completed within the timescales stipulated; however, the work is weather dependent.
The Ayrshire Roads Alliance, on behalf of East Ayrshire Council, would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused by these essential works.
