A714 Road Improvement Plan

The Ayrshire Roads Alliance, on behalf of South Ayrshire Council, will be carrying out essential and major resurfacing works on two sections of the A714, as part of the A714 Road Improvement Plan.

Following an extensive consultation with local community councils, Dumfries and Galloway Council, Police Scotland and key stakeholders, it has been agreed that the works will be carried out in two phases to help minimise disruption to the travelling public.

Phase one – Kildonan and Sixpence

Starting on Monday 15 October and lasting for approximately 15 days, almost 2.5km of carriageway will be resurfaced.

Phase one diversion:

  • Southbound Diversion – A714 closed North of Barrhill, divert via A714,A75, A77 B734
  • Northbound Diversion – A714 Closed at Pinwherry, divert via B734,A77,A75,A714

Phase two - Pinmore, Pinmacher, Pinminnoch and Glendrissaig

Starting after phase one has been completed and lasting approximately 15 days, almost 4km of carriageway will be resurfaced.

Phase two diversion:

  • Southbound Diversion – A714 closed at Shallochpark Roundabout, divert via A77,B734, A714
  • Northbound Diversion – A714 Closed after Pinwherry, divert via B734,A77, A714

Due to the limited available road width of the A714 at the following locations - Kildonan, Sixpence, Pinmore, Pinmacher, Pinminnoch and Glendrissaig, it will be necessary to close the road and prohibit street parking from 09:30 to 15:30 daily, to ensure the safety of our workers and the travelling public.

Diversion routes are significant and drivers are advised to allow plenty of extra time for their journey

Access for Emergency Vehicle will be maintained at all times.

The Alliance thanks you for your consideration and patience while these essential works are undertaken.

The Strategic Timber Transport Scheme (STTS) is match funding the project, providing 50% of the overall cost of the resurfacing works.
