All ability sports day at Townhead Community Sports Hub

Townhead Community Sports Hub at Cumnock Juniors held an all ability sports day recently in partnership with Vibrant Communities, where the focus was very much on fun.

Invited guests, members of the local community and young people from The Robert Burns Academy Supported Learning Centre had the opportunity to try football, boccia and tri-golf but the favourite activity by far was the all ability bikes.

All ability cycles offers children, young people and adults who have a physical or learning disability or have impaired balance, the chance to fully participate in the fun and freedom of cycling.

The event was such a success that a team from Cumnock Juniors Community Enterprise and Vibrant Communities will be holding a sports day every Thursday from 10am to 12.30pm at Townhead Park for just a £1 donation per person each week.

Chief Executive Eddie Fraser said: “The joint Cumnock Juniors Community Enterprise and Vibrant Communities all ability sports day was a great success. Our young people from The Robert Burns Academy Supported Learning Centre really enjoyed the freedom of cycling. To hear them all laughing and seeing them having such a brilliant time was a real tonic for everyone involved.

“The great news is that all ability sports will now be offered weekly at Townhead Park each Thursday, thanks to the strong partnership between Vibrant Communities and Cumnock Juniors Community Enterprise.”
