ARA to resurface Kilmarnock's Hurlford Road and Holmquarry Road

Ayrshire Roads Alliance will be resurfacing Hurlford Road and Holmquarry Road, Kilmarmock, starting on Saturday 12 October.

Starting at Hurlford Road, the roads will be closed in three phases to minimise disruption and allow as much access to traffic as possible.

Phase 1 will be between Queens Drive and the middle of the Kirkstyle junction (half of the junction will stay open to allow access).  Roads will be closed here for up to one week from 8am until 5pm daily. Residents will be managed in and out of Kirkstyle junction by temporary traffic lights from and to the direction of Campbell Street roundabout during working hours.

The Haining Avenue junction will be shut during working hours with residents advised to use an alternative route through the housing schemes.

Once Phase 1 is complete and that stretch is re-opened, Phase 2 will start from the middle of Kirkstyle junction to the middle of the Campbell Fuels junction. Both will still have one side open to allow access. The works are expected to take 3 or 4 days, which may include weekend working, from 8am -5pm  and will hopefully be finished by the end of the October school holiday week.

During this phase traffic will be managed in and out of Kirkstyle junction by temporary traffic lights during working hours in the direction of Queen’s Drive. The Campbell’s Fuel Garage junction will be managed by two way temporary traffic lights to and from the direction of Campbell Street roundabout.

Kinloch Road junction will be closed off during working hours with residents advised to use alternative routes through the scheme.

Once this is complete, Phase 3 will start.  This stretch runs from the middle of the Campbell Fuels junction, again with half the junction open for access,  to close to the Campbell Street roundabout.

It is expected that the road will be closed here for around 2 weeks from 8am-5pm. Again, traffic will be managed in and out of Campbell’s Fuels Garage by two way temporary traffic lights to and from the direction of Queen’s Drive. Both the New Street and Turnberry Drive junctions will be closed off during working hours. The one way section at the bottom of New Street will be suspended temporarily and it will revert back to two way traffic flow while the works are being carried out.

Once these three phases are complete, Holmquarry Road will be resurfaced in two phases to allow vehicles to continue to access the retail park.

All diversion routes will be signposted. Ayrshire Roads Alliance would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused during these works.
