Ayrshire Coastal Path guidebooks donated to East Ayrshire secondary schools

All secondary schools in East Ayrshire have received a copy of the official Ayrshire Coastal Path guidebook, which have been donated by author James A. Begg and the Ayrshire Coastal Path Management Board.

The Ayrshire Coastal Path (ACP) runs for 106 miles from Glenapp to Skelmorlie along one of Scotland’s finest panoramic coastlines. With the superb backdrop of the mountains of Arran across the Firth of Clyde, the coastline is steeped in history, teeming with wildlife and is the perfect place for our young people to explore with their families.

Our secondary schools have been provided with a copy of the Third Edition of the guidebook, which is right up to date and can be used for reference information for young people studying Geography, History, Social History and Natural History projects.

There are also plans in place to provide copies of the Second Edition at all primary schools in East Ayrshire.

Councillor Elaine Cowan, Spokesperson for Education, and Children and Young People said: “The Ayrshire Coastal Path guidebook will help our young people to expand their horizons and explore this amazing coastline right on our doorsteps. We are so lucky in Ayrshire to have access to such beauty but the history of the area is also fascinating. There is so much to learn and I am very grateful to James A. Begg and the Ayrshire Coastal Path Management Board for this generous donation.”
