Barony Campus will reopen on Monday 12 January
East Ayrshire Council can confirm that The Robert Burns Academy and SLC, Hillside School, Lochnorris Primary and SLC, and Cherry Trees ECC will reopen on Monday 12 January.
Pipers Café will remain closed for the foreseeable future.
Multi-service meetings have been held daily throughout the week, and engineers and a number of contractors have been onsite throughout addressing issues that have arisen since Sunday 4 January. This will continue over the weekend to ensure that any issues that may arise are addressed as quickly as possible.
On Monday, there will be some minor changes to normal arrangements, for example the location of some classes within The Robert Burns Academy and SLC, and to the food service. Catering Services are on Campus today preparing for Monday and school meal information will be provided via ParentPay.
The Council would like to take this opportunity to thank parents and carers for their support and understanding throughout the week.
Background
On Sunday 4 January, East Ayrshire Council was made aware of significant flooding within the Barony Campus. At 6pm on Sunday, following consideration of our duty of care to all children and young people, the very difficult decision was taken to close the entire Campus on Monday 5 January.
When further site visits took place on Monday 5 January, it became clear that The Robert Burns Academy and SLC would have to remain closed until Monday 12 January.
The Council was very hopeful that Hillside School, Lochnorris Primary and SLC, and Cherry Trees ECC would be able to open nearer the end of the week, however the ongoing instability of the heating systems meant that this was not possible, and on Wednesday 7 January parents and carers were advised that the whole Campus would remain closed until Monday 12 January.
The Council fully recognises the impact the closure has had on both pupils and their families. Due to the extended closure, parents and carers of pupils who receive a free school meal due to low income received a payment of £12.50 (£2.50/ day for five days).
