Children visit Crosshouse Primary, Communication Centre and Early Childhood Centre for an update
Children and young people joined Head Teacher Tina Gaitens for a site visit to Crosshouse Primary School, Communication Centre and Early Childhood Centre to view the refurbishment work and progress on the new extension.
Head Teacher Mrs Gaitens said: “The children and I were so excited to visit the site, to receive an update on the refurbishment work and view the new extension. Children from a range of year groups attended the visit including from the Early Childhood Centre, as they will be the first primary ones to attend our new school.
“Ronnie Burrows from Fleming Buildings Ltd has been working closely with us and has been visiting the children regularly at Kirkstyle to provide updates and help the children to understand everything that is involved in a build of this type. The children have found it fascinating and really enjoyed updating their classmates so getting to visit the site was a real treat.
“After the Easter holidays we will be sharing information in class and at assemblies. We can’t wait to move to our new school and start an exciting new chapter in the history of Crosshouse Primary, Communication Centre and Early Childhood Centre.”
The refurbishment and extension, which is being carried out by Fleming Buildings Ltd and due to be completed late summer, will provide our children with new, light and bright classrooms and a variety of exciting and flexible indoor and outdoor spaces.
The two-storey extension will house a new integrated dining and PE block, five additional teaching spaces for both primary school and communication centre use and eight communication centre classrooms that will each have dedicated quiet rooms. The existing building will be completely refurbished and outside the children will enjoy a new running and cycling sport track, sports pitch and fun landscaped areas for outdoor learning and play.
