Civic recognition for Phoenix Taekwondo
Provost Jim Todd presented Phoenix Taekwondo with a certificate of civic recognition this week in honour of the club’s success at the recent Taekwondo International World Championships 2023.
Under the leadership of Scott McMillan, the Kilmarnock-based club has been going from strength to strength, and 18 out of 21 students won medals at the Championships which were held in Coventry and involved over 2000 participants.
Provost Todd said: “The dedication shown by the students is amazing. It takes a lot of commitment and staying power to keep turning up to training sessions but to see the rewards makes it all worthwhile. To then go on to win medals at the World Championships is an even greater accomplishment. Well done to the whole club – they are fantastic ambassadors for East Ayrshire and should be very proud of their incredible achievements.”
