Council flies the flag for Armed Forces Day
Members of the armed forces gathered at Council Headquarters in Kilmarnock today to pay tribute to the contribution made by all those who serve or have served in His Majesty’s Armed Forces.
A specially designed flag was raised as a show of support to mark Armed Forces Day, which is officially being celebrated on Saturday 28 June.
Provost Claire Leitch said: “I was honoured to welcome serving personnel and veterans to Council headquarters to mark Armed Forces Day and to have the opportunity to show our support and thank them for the work they do to keep us all safe.
"As a Council, we remain committed to supporting our Armed Forces community, not just today but every day, and I hope that the challenges they face and the roles they play are made a little bit easier when they know that their communities are proud of them and wish them well.”
