Dunlop Primary School launches new school song
The P7 band at Dunlop Primary School, ‘The 24/7’s’, launched their new school song recently, ‘You Get What you Give’.
At the special launch P7 gave a stirring performance to invited guests, Councillor Elaine Cowan, Spokesperson for Lifelong Learning, Education and Skills and Culture; local elected members Councillors Ellen Freel and John McGhee and members of the parent council.
The school worked with Scott Nicol from Possibility Screams to create a song that reflected their new school values – Honesty, Kindness, Respect and Inclusion. They took part in music workshops over a four week period before recording their song, which is now available from Spotify, i-Tunes and YouTube.
Councillor Elaine Cowan said: “The launch of the new school song by Dunlop Primary school band, ‘The 24/7’s’ was fantastic. Their song reflects their new school values and was really uplifting. My favourite lines were ‘Lift someone up then you’ll be flying high; Kindness is free, so keep on giving’.
“They certainly lifted me with their wonderful performance. The P7’s really shone at the song launch and what an amazing legacy they are leaving behind.
“I would like to thank Head Teacher Laura Kelly for such a warm welcome and give a special mention to P7 teacher Janice McCrae who worked so hard creating this wonderful song with Scott and our young people.”
