East Ayrshire Council launches WhatsApp
From Monday 23 March 2026, WhatsApp users can follow East Ayrshire Latest News to access key updates, service information, community campaigns, events, and helpful resident guidance.
Many people now rely on WhatsApp as a primary source of quick information and this addition of WhatsApp expands the Council’s public communications channels beyond website, email, social media, and in-person updates.
WhatsApp is a one-way broadcast channel, meaning followers can receive posts in their WhatsApp 'Updates' tab without their personal details (name, phone number, profile image, etc.) being disclosed to the Council or other followers. Replies and comments are also disabled, offering the public a protected and uncluttered source of information from East Ayrshire Council. Followers can react to messages using emojis but cannot reply or comment, and they cannot be added to group chats.
The channel is now available through the WhatsApp Updates tab on users’ personal devices. Posts will appear directly in users’ WhatsApp feed once they start following the channel.
To follow the channel:
- Open WhatsApp
- Go to the Updates tab (bottom left)
- Tap the search bar and type East Ayrshire Latest News
- Hit Follow
