Donation of defibrillator to Valley Vets

Council boosts survival chances with more defibrillator success

Under the Community Defibrillator Initiative, East Ayrshire’s Health and Safety Team were delighted to provide Valley Vets with a brand new defibrillator cabinet to replace theirs which had broken.

Under the scheme, community benefit funds from contractors are used to site and equip defibrillator cabinets which are then looked after by community groups. This latest donation takes the total number of clubs and community groups they have supported through the initiative to 70.

Having access to a defibrillator locally can make all the difference to survival chances for heart attack victims at a point where fast treatment is essential.

Created by East Ayrshire Council’s Health and Safety Service and Procurement, the initiative encourages local contractors to donate life-saving equipment for distribution within the communities where they are undertaking work, as part of their obligations to provide wider local community benefits during the life of their contract with the Council.

Visit East Ayrshire Council’s website for more information on the initiative.

Councillor Neal Ingram, Cabinet Member with responsibility for Human Resources, Equalities and Inclusion said:

“Thank you to all the companies who kindly donate this life-saving equipment under community benefits provisions.

“This enables us to support our communities as best we possibly can.”
