Dark Sky Observatory

East Ayrshire’s top tourist spots feature in VisitScotland autumn promotions

East Ayrshire Council is delighted to have three of its top tourist locations featured in VisitScotland’s latest autumn e-newsletter which is distributed to a UK-wide audience.

Dean Castle Country Park, Dumfries House and the Scottish Dark Sky Observatory in Dalmellington have been named as three of 15 places recommended to visit in Ayrshire and Arran this autumn.

The three locations also star in a recent film by VisitScotland aimed at inspiring young people to visit Ayrshire and Arran.

Take a Different Path, which is supported by an eBook, has been created by VisitScotland in partnership with East, North and South Ayrshire Councils, to showcase the diversity of the region and encourage visitors to explore the area for longer. It is hoped the video will particularly appeal to a younger audience and show them how intriguing and vibrant Ayrshire and Arran is as a place to visit.

The supporting eBook gives more detail about each of the filming locations, as well as some additional attractions, and provides useful links to visitscotland.com and business websites for further information.

Councillor Jim Roberts, Cabinet Member for Economy and Infrastructure, said: “It’s good to see some of our top tourist locations being featured so prominently by VisitScotland. We hope it will encourage new visitors to the area who will then also take the opportunity to explore the many other great tourist offerings we have in East Ayrshire.”

Autumn is the ideal time to get out and explore the local area and perfect for booking a trip to places like the Scottish Dark Sky Observatory, an incredible facility which offers a totally unique and unforgettable experience. You could also enjoy the return of the Illuminight festival at Dean Castle Country Park next month which looks set to be massively popular again after last year’s inaugural event.
