Jim Dunlop Memorial Community Walking Festival

The Lifestyle Development and Community Wellbeing Team are hosting the annual Jim Dunlop Memorial Community Walking Festival from Monday 25 June to Saturday 30 June in honour of the late Jim Dunlop.

Jim was a devoted volunteer Walk Leader within the team and a great believer in getting as many people as possible involved in physical activity regardless of their age or ability.

The Walking Festival will include a range of walks aimed at all ages and abilities and will be a wonderful opportunity to enjoy some fresh air, good company and hopefully some sunshine.

On Monday 25 June, the Walking Festival will launch in style with a Big Fit Walk at Dean Castle Country Park, Kilmarnock. There will also be an option to join the longer two castles walk from Dean Castle to Craufurdland Castle.

Tuesday 26 June will be a led walk around Dunlop; Wednesday 27 June will be the Water Meetings walk at Kilmaurs; Thursday 28 June will be a visit to Darvel for a walk around the Lanfine Estate and the finale of the Walking Festival will take place on Saturday 30 June with a walk from Galston to Loudoun Hill.

Dogs and children are more than welcome to attend any of walks with a responsible adult.

For further information on times and distances of the walks please contact Faye Forsyth on 01563 576398 or by email at faye.forsyth@east-ayrshire.gov.uk
