Longest serving East Ayrshire Parent Rep says farewell to Cabinet

Elected members and Council officers bid a fond farewell to East Ayrshire Council’s longest serving Parent Representative Jackie Livingston at this week’s Cabinet meeting.

Jackie was first appointed as substitute Parent Representative on Cabinet in 2012 before being selected as the main Parent Representative in October 2013. Since then, Jackie has never missed a Cabinet meeting and has always made valuable contributions to numerous discussions and decisions.

Cabinet Chair and Council Leader, Douglas Reid, said: “We are very grateful to Jackie for the time she has given up so generously to contribute to our work on Cabinet matters over many years and we wish her every happiness for the future.”

Councillor Elaine Cowan, Cabinet Spokesperson for Education and Children and Young People, added: “We are incredibly lucky in East Ayrshire to have such a committed Parent Council who do an incredible job of representing our parents and carers. Jackie has shown unwavering commitment to her role as Parent Representative and we were delighted to be able to recognise and thank her for her many years of service.”

Cabinet also welcomed new Parent Representative John Semple to his first meeting who was recently selected by the Parent Strategy Group.
