Loudoun Valley Trust helps five local primary schools

Loudoun Valley Trust has donated £400 to five local schools to ensure that all children and young people can participate in fun and educational trips.

William Stafford, representing the Trust, delivered a cheque for £400 to each school after liaising with Linda McAulay-Griffiths, Chief Education Officer and each Head Teacher who identified projects that would benefit from the funding.

Darvel Primary will use their donation towards the cost of a residential trip to the Border in January 2023; Galston Primary is putting the funding towards their residential trip to Lockerbie Manor next May; Newmilns will also put the funding towards their residential trip, while Hurlford and St Sophia’s Primaries will use their funding towards a trip to the panto at the Palace Theatre.

William Stafford said: "The Loudoun Valley Trust was delighted to donate £400 to our five local primary schools. The Trustees were very clear that, in so far as possible, the funding should be used to ensure that vulnerable children and young people could participate in fun and educational activities, like residential trips or trips to the panto. We recognise that during this Cost of Living crisis parents and carers might find it difficult to find extra money for extracurricular trips and we don’t want anyone to miss out."

Councillor Elaine Cowan, Cabinet Spokesperson for Lifelong Learning, Education and Skills and Culture said: "I would like to thank Loudoun Valley Trust for their generous donation to the five Valley primary schools. Our children and young people have lots to look forward to in the coming months and this funding will be put to very good use."
