Margaret Paton celebrates 100th birthday in style
Margaret Paton has celebrated her 100th birthday in style with a wonderful Western themed party at Glennie House, Auchinleck and a family party at the Dumfries Arms in Cumnock where Councillor William Lennox presented a gift on behalf of East Ayrshire Council.
Margaret was born in July 1926 and lived her early life in Hurlford, before moving to Bellfield where she remained happily in the same house for an incredible 69 years. Remarkably, she lived in Bellfield longer than any other resident.
Margaret worked at BMK for 35 years and is still very well-known, and highly regarded, by her former colleagues.
Her birthday was a true celebration of her long and very full life, and her devotion to her son Allan and daughter-in-law Margaret, her wider family and many, many friends.
Margaret said that her longevity is due to her Christian faith, hard work and staying active, both physically and mentally - she was a keen reader and cruciverbalist (someone who loves crosswords) until very recently.
The support for Margaret locally has been incredible. Her party at Glennie House was supported by Blackstone Clydesdales, Fossilfield Training Centre and LC Balloons, while local farmers supplied hay bales, which transformed the garden. There was music, line dancing and whole lot of fun.
