Meet the Team behind the Barony Campus

Locals in Cumnock and Auchinleck were given the opportunity last week to meet the team who will be leading on the construction of the new £68million Barony Campus.

Morrison Construction organised two meet the team events - at the Boswell Centre, Auchinleck and Cumnock Rugby Club - to introduce the site team and explain what will be happening with the construction process over the coming months.

Visitors could view 3D models of the development as well as detailed floor plans for each of the buildings.

Morrison Construction's Project Manage, David Wright, and Construction Manager, Brian Linden, were on hand to answer any questions and address concerns raised by the public about the planned works.

Those who attended also had the opportunity to discuss the design of the facilities, including the internal and external layouts, with representatives from the Design Team, Sheppard Robson, and East Ayrshire Council’s Education Programme Team.

Councillor Douglas Reid said: “It’s great to see works getting underway on what is one of our most ambitious capital projects to date.

“Understandably local people will be curious about a development of this scale but hopefully they will have made the most of this opportunity to come along and speak to the team leading the project and put their minds at rest.”

Works commenced onsite on Monday 30 April as Morrison Construction started to prepare the Broomfield site for the construction of this exciting campus development.

Fencing has been erected to secure the area as heavy plant machinery and equipment start to arrive on site. Footpaths around the Riverwalk will remain open to retain public access to Broomfield.  

The Barony Campus will incorporate the Robert Burns Academy, Lochnorris Primary School, Cherry Trees Early Childhood Centre and Hillside ASN School, providing state-of-the-art facilities for children, young people and members of the local community.

The new campus is expected to open to children and young people in August 2020.
