Multi storey to reopen as parking arrangements return to normal

Kilmarnock’s multi-storey is set to reopen on Monday 15 June as East Ayrshire’s parking arrangements start to return to normal.

The multi-storey will open with reduced hours of 08:00 to 18:00 Monday to Saturday, until Monday 29 June when it will return to the normal hours of 06:30 – 21:30 Monday to Friday and 07:00 – 19:30 on Saturday.

Parking attendants will also be returning to their normal duties on Monday 15 June. When lockdown was called on Monday 23 March, parking attendants supported colleagues across the Council to provide essential services to our communities, including delivering meals. With alternative arrangements now in place, parking attendants will return to normal duties on Monday, focusing on critical areas that will include junctions, disabled bays and known hot spots where inconsiderate and illegal parking can cause serious disruption.

Councillor Jim Roberts, Cabinet Member for Economy and Infrastructure said: “For the first week, starting on Monday 15 June, parking attendants will be focusing on critical areas where enforcement can ensure that roads are safe and that blue badge holders have appropriate access to services and shops. Normal enforcement duties, including on and off-street pay and display car parks, will restart on Monday 22 June.

“We issued key workers with parking permits that cover on and off street Council parking bays at the start of lockdown and these permits will remain valid at the moment.”

Plans are in place to ensure that ticket machines across East Ayrshire are cleaned and disinfected regularly. If you are worried about using parking machines at the moment download the cashless parking app, RingGo or register online.

All you need is a payment card and a smartphone or computer. RingGo allows you to pay for parking without the need for coins and from the comfort of your car.
