Nether Robertland champs take on Euroquiz challenge
A team from P6 at Nether Robertland Primary in Stewarton beat all of their competition to reach the finals of Euroquiz, a Scotland-wide quiz on Europe organised by the Scottish European Educational Trust (SEET).
James, Xander, Evie and Kai made up the winning team who represented East Ayrshire at the grand final, which took place online. Fern was also a key member of the team, ensuring that she was ready to step in on the day of the big competition if required.
They were up against 22 finalist teams and had to answer three rounds of questions on geography and history, languages and culture and European affairs from special guest Quizmaster, Mark Pentleton from Coffee Break Languages and Radio Lingua.
Councillor Fiona Campbell, Cabinet Member for Skills and Learning said: “Nether Robertland Primary did a wonderful job reaching the Euroquiz finals. Over 1300 pupils from 270 schools took part this year and James, Xander, Evie and Kai should be very proud of themselves.
“Normally the grand final would take in the Scottish Parliament’s debating chamber but to keep everyone safe this year it took place online and Deputy Presiding Officer Annabelle Ewing MSP sent a special message to all the young people who took part. Our young people performed really well, their preparations certainly paid off as they finished joint tenth. Well done!”
