New Cumnock Primary choir set to make their TV debut
New Cumnock Primary School has been chosen from thousands of hopefuls to represent Scotland in Blue Peter’s Christmas choir.
The Blue Peter Christmas Special, which will be aired on Thursday 17 December at 17:30, will include our young people who are busy rehearsing for their TV debut. Staff from the school have been working closely with the BBC and the Council’s Health and Safety team to ensure that Covid-19 measures are in place. Filming will take place safely outdoors within the school playground.
Head Teacher Joanna McMurdo said: “We are all so excited to be chosen to represent Scotland and to perform on Blue Peter. Mrs McNulty and the choir are rehearsing in school and on Teams from home. They are sounding wonderful and it is making us all feel very Christmassy.
“This year, like schools across the country, we have had to cancel our nativity and I know that this has been disappointing for parents and carers. We are doing lots of Christmas activities in class, which the children are really enjoying, and being selected to perform on Blue Peter has certainly raised all of our spirits. I am so proud of our children and our community and can’t wait for them to show everyone how talented they are.”
