New library opened on World Book Day
Literature came to life at Annanhill Primary School for World Book Day when Little Red Riding Hood, Grandma and the Big Bad Wolf spent the day working in the school office.
It was also the perfect day for Provost Jim Todd to officially open the new school library by cutting a ribbon.
Provost Jim Todd was joined by Alan Brown MP; local member, Councillor Lillian Jones, Ian McMeekin from Scottish Fire and Rescue, a representative from Centrestage and Captain Conker from Kilmarnock Football Club – who all read stories the children.
Provost Todd said: “What an honour to be invited to officially open Annanhill Primary School’s new school library, which has been improved thanks to support from parent helper, Katherine Duff. It was also a real pleasure to read to Miss Mason’s P2 class, they were a great bunch and I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with them.
“Reading is such a gift and I am so grateful for the opportunity to encourage our children and young people to read. Books can transport you to different places and different times and can be life changing.”
