New road resurfacing projects set to get underway this August
East Ayrshire’s extensive £6m road resurfacing programme is continuing at pace.
The Roads Maintenance Unit Section in the Ayrshire Roads Alliance has designed a road resurfacing programme covering 60km of local roads which will ensure that resurfacing work focuses on the roads most affected by defects, potholes and surface fragmentation.
Teams will be resurfacing substantial stretches of road; moving away from temporary repairs on isolated patches and potholes.
On Monday 6 August, the team will move to Fenwick where 2200 metres will be resurfaced from the A77 at Fenwick to the B751 High Gardum. Phase one will take five working days and the road will be closed from the B778 roundabout to the Gardrum roundabout. Phase two will start on Monday 13 August and will take five working days. The road will be closed from the B751 roundabout to the B778 roundabout.
On Monday 27 August, they will move to the B743 Muirkirk to Strathaven where 800 metres will be resurfaced south of the old quarry to 100 metres south of Greenock water; 600 metres will be resurfaced on the U731 High Road to Waterhead and a further 200 metres will be resurfaced north of Waterhead.
On Monday 27 August, the team will also be at the A735 resurfacing 460 metres from Newmill Road, Dunlop to the 30mph speed limit sign and will be resurfacing on the A719 at Glassock, Heresshaw and Polbaith where a total of 1820 metres will be resurfaced from the A77 to Glassock, the U44 to the U40 and Polbaith to Fairfield.
