Northwest Kilmarnock P5’s enjoy bowling training sessions
Northwest Kilmarnock Bowling Club, in partnership with Active Schools, are running training sessions for P5’s at three local schools – Hillhead, Onthank and Mount Carmel Primary Schools.
Over the next four weeks, Bob McChristie and the team from Northwest Kilmarnock Bowling Club will be holding training sessions during the school day and at after-school clubs.
Councillor Elaine Cowan, Spokesperson for Education, Children and Young People and local member dropped into a session at Hillhead Primary and was put through her paces with the P5’s. She said: “Bowls really is a sport for everyone and Scotland, particularly Ayrshire, has been very successful at nurturing champion bowlers. I was really pleased to join Bob McChristie’s training session at Hillhead Primary and to see first-hand the enthusiasm, and skill, of the young people.
“Bowling clubs are at the heart of their local communities and projects like this will ensure that they remain there.”
