EAC Safety Ride 2

Pass Wide and Slow Ride

Horse riders, bike riders and pedestrians got together to raise awareness and educate other road users on how to safely pass riders on the road to mark national Pass Wide and Slow Day on 19 September.

As part of the Pass Wide and Slow campaign, rides were taking place all over the country to advise drivers on how to approach horses and their riders slowly at no more than 15mph and pass widely by at least two metres when safe to do so.

Participants on the Ayrshire ride travelled an 8km route starting from Stair and there was also a shorter route available for children and smaller ponies.

Councillor Julie Dettbarn from South Ayrshire Council and Kevin Braidwood, Head of Ayrshire Roads Alliance, were there to wave the riders off.
