Provost’s festive message

2018 has been another unbelievably quick and busy year and it’s almost time again for us to gather with family and friends, exchange gifts, enjoy too much good food and create new memories.

And yet the festive season can be a lonely time for many within our communities, both young and old.

Some people often feel isolated and forgotten and many may have lost touch with relatives or friends, or have lost their partners.

Now, and indeed at any time of the year, it is important that we look out for each other and spare a thought for those around us. A knock at the door or a chat over a cuppa can make the world of difference to someone living on their own. Or if you know of an elderly or lonely neighbour who would be on their own on Christmas Day, think about inviting them round to share in the celebrations with your family. Not only will you make a huge difference to their life, but it will make you feel good too.

I wish you all a happy, peaceful and restful festive season and hope that 2019 brings you everything that you wish for.

Season’s Greetings

From Provost Jim Todd
