Provost’s festive message
2019 has gone by in a flash and it’s nearly time again for us to gather with our loved ones, exchange presents, enjoy good food and create new memories.
The festive season can be a difficult time though for many within our communities, and particularly those who may be struggling with mental health issues.
I have learned so much more about this during 2019 through the involvement that myself and Depute Provost Claire Leitch have had with The Kris Boyd Charity.
This charity, which we’re so happy to support, was set up to educate people on mental health and suicide and to encourage people to seek help when they need it. It’s crucial that we all do our part to help tackle the stigma around talking about our mental health and we will continue to do all we can to help make this happen.
Together we can help to keep raising awareness and encouraging people to speak up and not to suffer alone or in silence. Please remember that it’s OK not to be OK – that’s a very powerful and important message and one that we should all be spreading, both over the festive season and throughout the year.
I wish you all a happy, peaceful and restful festive season and hope that 2020 brings you everything that you wish for.
Season’s Greetings
From Provost Jim Todd
