Pupils' delight as Loudoun Valley Trust donates £2,000 to Academy
Pupils at Loudoun Academy have responded with surprise and delight, after the Loudoun Valley Trust donated £2,000 towards their school funds.
Part of the money (£1,200) will help the school in developing their hospitality programme, delivered in a state-of-the-art barista bar and cafe in the heart of the school.
A contribution will go towards the Loudoun Photography competition, which runs in parallel with the school’s photography and creative industries courses.
Paralympian prospect Cameron Radigan (archery) and a pupil at the school will receive £200 to help him buy competition arrows, with the balance being used to supplement educational school excursions, assisting pupils who live in deprived areas of the Academy’s catchment area.
Welcoming the donation, Councillor Fiona Campbell Cabinet Member for Skills and Learning said: “This is a fantastic and very generous gift from the Loudoun Valley Trust and they can be certain the £2,000 will make a real difference in supporting the Academy.
“On behalf of the entire school, I’d like to extend our sincere gratitude to the Trust.”
Head Teacher Scott Robertson added: “A good measure of a school’s success can be judged by the support it enjoys from parents, the local community, organisations, clubs and businesses and I’m delighted our school continues to be held in high regard.
“The Trust’s donation is phenomenal and will help improve outcomes for our young people, especially in developing our hospitality curriculum, where we are working hard to make sure our teaching and skills development meet the local job market needs.
“This valuable donation will enhance those efforts and we’re incredibly grateful to the Trust.”
