EAC Wedding Open Day 02

Refurbished marriage suite officially opened at Burns Monument Centre

Provost Claire Leitch officially opened the newly renovated marriage suite at the Burns Monument Centre wedding open day last weekend.

Couples planning their big day enjoyed viewing the room which has been refurbished with a focus on reusing and upcycling much of the current furniture to give it a new lease of life. Local supplier Saxen Interiors from Newmilns transformed the 84 guest chairs by repainting and re-upholstering them, while the Council’s Graphic Design team designed the room’s interior; worked with the Council’s Outdoor Services team to refurbish the current Registrars’ desk; and foiled the existing mirror and photo frames in the pre-ceremony room with rose gold.

Guests at the open day also got to chat with local wedding suppliers who provide cars, cakes, balloons, flowers, photography, stationery, bridal wear, kilt hire.

Provost Leitch said: “It was lovely to see so many people coming along to view the new Robert Burns marriage suite and to hear about some new and improved features that are available for a ceremony such as live streaming, slideshows, and playlists.

“Thanks go to the local suppliers and teams within the Council who have helped to carry out the refurbishment in such a sustainable and cost-conscious way, allowing us to reduce waste and extend the lifespan of the existing furniture.

“I know that a significant number of ceremonies were booked by couples at the open day and I wish them all every happiness for the future.”
