Refurbishment works at Loanhead Primary to begin in July

The anticipated refurbishment of Loanhead Primary School in Kilmarnock is all set to go ahead this July, with work expected to take a year.

In advance of the planned refurbishment, the Council has met with staff and the school’s Parent Council to advise of some short term changes to allow the work to go ahead, including a decant of pupils to the nearby Kirkstyle Primary School.

An open evening was also arranged, for parents and carers to meet with senior council officers and discuss the works and arrangements being put in place to allow the refurbishment to be completed quickly.

Areas for discussion included transport to and from school, road safety and crossing, Home Link support arrangements and information from the Council’s New Schools Team.

Linda McAulay-Griffiths, East Ayrshire Council’s Head of Education said: “We pride ourselves on offering a first class education to every child and young person and part of delivering on that commitment is making sure the school environment is fit for purpose.

“The refurbishment works at Loanhead will make a real difference to the quality of education we can offer and, once complete, will provide an inspirational and motivational environment on which our pupils and staff can work together and reach their full potential."
