Resettlement celebration
Provost Jim Todd, elected members and officers from the Council enjoyed meeting Syrian, Iraqi and Afghan nationals who have resettled in East Ayrshire at a special event in the Howard Centre this week.
Guests had the chance to sample traditional dishes from some of the families’ home countries which were prepared with the help of members of East Ayrshire Council’s catering team.
Some of the people who have resettled in East Ayrshire spoke about their experiences of living in Scotland and certificates were presented to ESOL learners (English for Speakers of Other Languages) by Blair Millar, the Council’s Head of Housing and Communities. Gifts were also presented to families who have now lived in East Ayrshire for over five years before Chief Executive Eddie Fraser brought the event to a close.
