Sheila strikes Gold at the Galleon

Sheila Tidy was celebrating this week as she kicked off a new “me time” and fitness regime thanks to Kilmarnock’s Galleon Centre.

The 51 year old busy mum of 6 is looking forward to enjoying some well deserved leisure time after scooping a free Gold Membership for the centre’s facilities after taking part in a consultation and entering a free prize draw.

Councillor Jim Roberts handed over her golden ticket at the Galleon Centre. He said: “I’m delighted to give this Gold Membership to Sheila. She’s a worthy and deserving winner and typifies why the Galleon Centre is so important to our community. She’s looking forward to swimming, doing aqua trim classes and using the gym as part of a new keep fit regime which she’s been inspired to start now that she has her card.

Our survey was all about finding out what people like Sheila want and need from the Galleon in the future, and we’ll be using all the responses to our survey to help guide our planning and design for an exciting new £14m revamp of the centre.

“It’s all part of our wider regeneration programme for the town centre which is putting people at the heart of everything we do.”
