EAC Shortlees clean up 14

Support your community clean up this September

Community clean ups will be taking place this September as Outdoor Services and Vibrant Communities join forces with local community groups to help keep East Ayrshire clean, green and vibrant.

Outdoor Services will be leading five community clean ups with support from local community councils. The team will work with any volunteers within the community for a full day, providing bags and litter pickers. They will also have large and small sweepers supporting their efforts and responding to any areas of concern.

The community clean ups, which will be subject to physical distancing measures, will start at 10.30am on the following days and locations:

Wednesday 2 September – Cunningham Watt park, Stewarton

Wednesday 9 September – Carnshalloch Avenue shops, Patna

Wednesday 16 September – Portland Park, Galston

Wednesday 23 September – Loreny Park, Shortlees

Wednesday 30 September – Football pitch Co-Operative Avenue, Catrine

Councillor Sally Cogley, Chair of the Clean, Green and Vibrant Working Group said: “The community clean ups will support a lot of great work that is already taking place within our communities. Local groups and individuals, who love and take pride in their local communities, are out daily supporting the work of Outdoor Services.

“These organised events are a great way of bringing everyone together, to realise that we are all in this together and that only by working together we can tackle environmental crime. If you haven’t taken part in a community clean up, why not join your local group this September. I can assure you that you will enjoy the company and be very proud of your hard work and your community at the end of the day.”

In addition to the Community Clean Ups, Cumnock and Kilmarnock town centres will be receiving a deep clean during the week of Monday 14 September.

Outdoor Services will also be supporting clean ups within our main parks including Annanhill Park, Kay Park, Dean Park, Howard Park, Bellfield estate, Woodroad Park and Cunningham Watt Park. Any group or individual who wishes to support the clean ups would be made very welcome.
