Youth Action Team-5

Youth roadshow tours East Ayrshire

The Council’s Youth Action Team is currently making its way around East Ayrshire schools to encourage young people to be responsible citizens in their communities.

Vibrant Communities, in partnership with Police Scotland, Scottish Fire & Rescue Service and NHS Ayrshire & Arran, is working with Education Services colleagues to deliver youth roadshows to S1 pupils across East Ayrshire prior to the summer holidays.

Workshops are being held in relation to anti-social behaviour, fire and water safety, peer pressure and stigma, alcohol and drugs awareness and safety in the community.

Councillor Graham Barton, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said: “The Youth Action Team is doing great work to support our children and young people. These roadshows will provide young people with knowledge of how to take care of themselves and others while out in the community, and they will also be learning about a wide range of subjects from fire and water safety to the impacts of anti-social behaviour. Thanks to all of our partners who are helping to deliver the roadshows which I hope will be a great success.”
