A713 Ayr to Dalmellington Road roadworks to start Saturday 30 July
The Ayrshire Roads Alliance, as part of its ongoing programme to improve the condition of the road network, will be carrying out essential road resurfacing works on two sections of the A713 Ayr to Dalmellington Road starting on Saturday 30 July for five weeks.
The road works will involve removing sections of the existing road surface, deep patching, laying a base course, adjusting ironware, laying a new surface course and renewing the associated road markings and studs.
To ensure the safety of the roads operatives and the travelling public, weekend road closures will be required during the project.
Location 1 - A713 between Polnessan and Main Street, Patna:
Is due to start on Saturday 30 July and will continue for up to two weeks.
Some preparatory work will be undertaken during weekdays with convoy traffic management in place and delays are possible.
To lay the new surface course, it is anticipated that two weekend road closures will be required on Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 July and Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 August 2022.
The road will be closed from 8am until 6pm on each Saturday and Sunday, when signed accordingly. The travelling public will be able to go through the work site between 12pm and 1pm each day.
An alternative route will be signed as follows:
For high sided vehicles via A713 through Hollybush, B742 to Coylton, A70 to Coalhall, B730, B7046 to Mote Toll, A70 to Dettingen roundabout, Cumnock, A76 to New Cumnock, B741 to Dalmellington, Gateside Rd, Broomknowe, Gateside Rd and vice versa.
All other vehicles will be diverted via A713 through Hollybush, B742 to Coylton, A70 to Dettingen roundabout, Cumnock, A76 to New Cumnock, B741 to Dalmellington, Gateside Rd, Broomknowe, Gateside Rd and vice versa.
Location 2 – A713 south of Hollybush between Smithson Farm and Holehouse Cottages:
Is due to start on Saturday 13 August and will continue for up to three weeks.
Some preparatory work will be undertaken on weekdays with convoy traffic management in place and delays are possible.
Three weekend road closures will be required to lay the new surface course. It is anticipated that the road will be closed on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 August, Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 August and Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 August 2022.
The road will be closed from 8am until 6pm each Saturday and Sunday, when signed accordingly.
An alternative route will be signed via A713 through Hollybush, B742 to Coylton, A70 to Coalhall, B730 through Drongan to re-join A713 and vice versa.
Emergency access will be maintained at all times throughout the duration of the works.
Electronic message signs will be placed on the A713 to inform the travelling public of each weekend road closure.
