Drivers learn more about road safety at interactive event

A successful ‘I Drive’ event, run in partnership by the Ayrshire Roads Alliance and North Ayrshire Council, recently offered drivers the chance to learn more about road safety.

Held at East Ayrshire Council HQ in Kilmarnock, the day included presentations from leading voices in road safety including Police Scotland who spoke about winter driving and drink/drug driving; Road Safety Scotland who gave advice on child car seats; and RoSPA, who spoke about the benefits of further driver training.

Guests also got to take part in interactive activities such as an online mock Highway Code test; hazard perception test; brake reaction testing; an observed drive with an advanced driver tutor, and a Road Safety Scotland Driver MOT Roadshow.

Councillor Jim McMahon, Cabinet Spokesperson for Housing, Transport and Communities, said: “Holding interactive events like this with our partners is a great way to improve road safety across Ayrshire, and it’s particularly important at this time of year as road conditions become more challenging. Thank you to everyone who came along.”
