King Street update 22 July 2025
Our teams are still working hard with demolition crews, cleaning squads and shop owners and tenants to clear the debris and aftermath of last week's fire.
As you will appreciate this all takes time and, of course, safety of workers and public comes before everything else. Because of this, parts of King Street are still cordoned off and some retailers are not yet open.
Today's position
Pedestrians can now access each end of King Street, however there is NO access through the section which lies between Marks and Spencer and the Bank of Scotland.
These shops lie within the cordon and are still shut:

- Ramsdens
- Tui
- Card Factory
- 02
- Cash Generator
- Boots Opticians
- Boots
- Smile Dental Practice
- Salvation Army
- Project Pop Up Scotland
- Savers
- NetFocus ICT
- Killie Cards
Other businesses are able now accessible, but due to the disruption and mess caused by the fire, some are not yet ready to re-open to the public - this includes the Bank of Scotland which is scheduled to re-open for business tomorrow.
Demolition update
Our demolition contractor is on site making arrangements for the next phase of the demolition, along Sandbed Street. Full details will be confirmed over the next couple of days.
