King Street Update Friday 1 August 2025

Access to King Street

The demolition site has now been cleared and wooden hoardings have been erected. Heras fencing and security will remain in place over the weekend with final clearance and the street being cleaned on Monday morning. This will allow King Steet to fully re-open at 8am on Monday morning.

Scottish Gas Networks require to replace their gas main so some excavation and heras fencing will remain on King street until this work is completed.

Sandbed Street

Sandbed street will continue to be secured over the weekend. The last daily waste collection service by the Council will be Monday morning, thereafter normal commercial waste services will resume from Tuesday. Businesses have been asked to ensure they have their commercial waste arrangements in place.

Business support

Utility companies are working to reconnect all remaining businesses, but some are still experiencing problems with phone lines.

The King Street Recovery Fund is receiving applications, with Business Advisors assisting where necessary.
