Marks and Spencer, Kilmarnock - clarification
In response to today's article in the Kilmarnock Standard, Pamela Clifford, Chief Planning Officer at East Ayrshire Council has issued the following statement:
"I have been made aware of an article published by the Kilmarnock Standard which has suggested a potential move of Marks and Spencer to Units 3 and 4 in Queens Drive Retail Park, Kilmarnock. However, it is important to note that the planning application for the use of Units 3 and 4 for food use is currently a live, and ongoing, application. Accordingly, no decision has been taken by the Council on the application, or its merits.
"Further, I would wish to confirm to you, and your readers, that once the application has reached the appropriate stage in the planning application process for a determination to be made, the decision will be taken by the Council on its planning merits and in accordance with the legislative framework that we operate within."
