The demolition of the property destroyed by the fire on King Street has been moving at pace throughout the week, with all indications suggesting these works should be complete by tomorrow, Friday 25 July.

More restrictions on King Street will be lifted from 2pm today, providing pedestrian access and allowing more businesses and retailers to open. 

King Street will partially reopen this evening, following discussions with the demolition contractors and building standards.

From Monday 7 July, East Ayrshire Council will begin enforcement of the pavement parking legislation which will mean that anyone parking on pavements, dropped kerbs or double parking will be issued with an instant parking ticket of £100, reduced to £50 if paid within 14 days.

The demolition of the multi-storey car park in Kilmarnock is continuing to make good progress despite a number of complex issues that have arisen since work began.

A successful Biker Refinement event, run in partnership by the Ayrshire Roads Alliance and North Ayrshire Council, took place on Sunday 18 May at the Ayrshire College, Ayr Campus. The day offered motorcyclists the chance to sharpen their skills, boost confidence, and reinforce safe riding practices ahead of the summer season.

Elected members discussed the issue of road casualty trends at Cabinet this week and agreed that much more needs to be done to prevent an increasing number of casualties and fatalities on the A76.

East Ayrshire Council’s Cabinet has agreed the Ayrshire Roads Alliance’s programme of investment works that will allow improvements to be carried out to carriageways, footways and street lighting, in addition to bridge strengthening and investment in transportation, traffic and road safety.
