Women walkers undaunted by wet weather on International Women’s Day
Wet weather didn’t daunt womens’ spirits as they gathered for a sisterly stroll in the Dean Castle Country Park to mark International Women’s Day.
Braving the elements, the hardy band walked for an hour, joined by East Ayrshire’s Depute Chief Executive Katie Kelly and Grace Martin, Depute Director of Sustrans Scotland who actively promote walking, cycling and outdoor activities on their network of paths.
The hugely enjoyable event, organised by the Active Travel Hub, based at Kilmarnock Railway Station, was made all the more fun with the presence of pupils from Hillbank Early Childhood Centre whose enthusiasm for the walk and the park were a great boost on a dreich day.
Active Travel Hub runs a number of activities including regular free walks, cycle and ebike hire and other community led events aimed at promoting healthy living, outdoor exercise and tackling social isolation. For more details tel 01563532416 email: info@activetravelhubkilmnarock.org
