A local Proclamation ceremony took place on Sunday 11 September in East Ayrshire to formally announce the start of the new King’s reign following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

“The passing of Her Majesty The Queen brings great sadness for so many of us. Her Majesty’s dedication and longevity of service to the UK and the Commonwealth were unrivalled and she was greatly admired and respected by millions of people across the globe throughout her 70-year reign.

Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Ayrshire and Arran, Sheriff Iona Sara McDonald OBE and Provost Jim Todd signed the condolence book in memory of Her Majesty The Queen at the Dick Institute in Kilmarnock this morning.
