A large stretch of King Street and Sandbed Street both remain closed as teams from East Ayrshire Council, Scottish Fire and Rescue, Police Scotland, demolition contractors and energy suppliers work to make the area safe following Monday night’s catastrophic fire.

Access to the area will continue to be restricted until further notice.

East Ayrshire Trading Standards have issued a warning regarding a rise in the number of counterfeit Labubu dolls that have been sold locally.

East Ayrshire Council’s Capital Programme works are continuing during the school summer holidays with improvement works taking place across the area. 

On Monday 14 and Thursday 17 July, and Monday 21 and Thursday 24 July - Western Road recycling centre will close at 3.50pm.

As East Ayrshire’s five year multi-million pound Place Based Investment Programme enters its final year, Councillors recognised its success in bringing communities together to make real and lasting improvements through co-operation, consultation and a process of “sharing the love” which has meant funds were eked out to provide the maximum possible benefits in communities large and small throughout the whole area.

Following significant work over the past few months, a start date has been set for the redevelopment of the Palace Theatre and Grand Hall in Kilmarnock.

East Ayrshire Provost Claire Leitch has chosen East Ayrshire Young Carers as the charity she will support for the next year to help raise the profile of young carers and the emotional and practical support that is available to them.

Helping people of all ages and abilities into worthwhile careers is a big part of East Ayrshire Council’s Community Wealth Building strategy. The strong track record of the Employability Teams is now moving forward with approval of a new four year long programme which is being introduced at HMP Kilmarnock. 

250 children and young people from eight primary schools and Doon Academy have taken part in the annual outdoor water safety day at Loch Doon. 

A special celebration event was held at St Joseph’s Academy recently that recognised children and young people from across East Ayrshire who are committed to introducing environmental change to their classrooms and communities.
