Scottish Education Awards 2018 – Chris Smith is Teacher of the Year
It was a successful day for East Ayrshire at the Scottish Education Awards when Grange Academy’s resident Math geek, Chris Smith lifted the prestigious Teacher of the Year award and Park School was a finalist for the Employability and Creativity across Learning award.
Junior Road Safety annual awards
The annual Junior Road Safety Officer awards took place recently at Ayr Town Hall and it was the perfect opportunity for the Ayrshire Roads Alliance’s Road Safety Team to congratulate all the JRSO’s and their co-ordinators.
Essential roadworks and road closures A713
As part of their ongoing programme to improve the condition of the road network, the Ayrshire Roads Alliance will be carrying out essential road resurfacing works on three sections of the A713 carriageway between Dalmellington and Ayr.
This essential work will be carried out in July and August during the school holidays.

Kilmarnock’s 10k road race will take place on Sunday 10 June at 10am when almost 1400 runners will run, Roon the Toon.
Provost gets on his bike to Ride for Dad
Easy riding East Ayrshire Provost, Jim Todd is set to roar through the area on his beloved Triumph, accompanied by 200 fellow blue-bearded bikers on August 5 - on his second “Ride for Dad” - deliberately shattering the peace of a Sunday morning to raise awareness of prostate disease, in aid of Prostate Cancer UK.
