East Ayrshire Council is seeking the views of individuals and communities over the next two weeks as they prepare to set the revenue budget for 2023/24.

At the recent meeting of Cabinet an extensive report on the Council’s early learning and childcare provision was heard. The report included details of the successful roll out of 1140 hours, the findings of the 2022 statutory consultation and the priorities for the Early Learning and Childcare Plan 2022-24. It was also agreed that the hourly rate for community childminders would be increased to £5 per hour.

East Ayrshire Council has been getting involved in a global initiative to help break down the barrier hunger can create in distracting children from their education.

NHS Ayrshire & Arran and the three health and social care partnerships in East, North and South Ayrshire are currently experiencing extremely high demand for services across the whole system – in urgent and emergency care, primary care services, acute hospital services, as well as in community and social care services.

Under the Education (Scotland) Act 1980, children who turn 5 years between 1 March 2023 and 29 February 2024, and whose parents/carers wish them to attend school, should be registered for education this week.
